--------------------------------------
1. Language Show Draw
--------------------------------------
During the London Language Show we ran a competition for a fr*ee CD. The successful entrant was Annette Stevens of London. Congratulations.
--------------------------------------
2. SPANISH TIP: Make hundreds of words and thousands of verb conjugations by knowing the VERB ENDINGS PATTERNS...
--------------------------------------
Here's a great little tip for Spanish learners, that will give you access to over two hundred nouns, 200 verbs and 1,200 conjugations in a couple of minutes.
1. Take most nouns ending in -TION in English, change it to -CIÓN and you have the equivalent noun in Spanish.
There you have over 200 nouns. They are all feminine.
So operation becomes la operación
preparation becomes la preparación
determination becomes la determinación
declaration becomes la declaración
concentration becomes la concentración
2. Now, if you know your standard PATTERNS of verb endings you can quickly convert these to verbs.
Here's how...
Take off the -ACIÓN, and to PREPAR- add the verb endings in accordance with this pattern. Add o-as-a-amos-áis-an.
I prepare - add 'o' - yo preparo
you prepare (informal singular)- add 'as' - tú preparas
he prepares - él prepara
you prepare (formal singular) - usted prepara
we prepare - nosotros preparamos
you prepare (informal plural) - vosotros preparáis
they prepare - ellos preparan
you prepare (formal plural) - ustedes preparan
So we also get yo opero, determino, declaro, concentro.
tú operas, determinas, declaras, concentras.
él opera, determina, determina, concentra...etc, etc, etc
So if you know the pattern of endings - these six endings for the present tense, you now can conjugate 200 verbs in the 8 personal pronouns (I, you (formal and informal, singular and plural), he, she, it, we, they), you can manage 200 verbs x 8 pronouns = 1,600 conjugations.
POWERFUL.
Now you can do these with several other tenses. Try the past tense....
Click here for more on the Rapid Conjugation of Spanish verbs in the past tense, thousands more conjugations....
We can do the same for several other phrases like 'I was preparing', 'I am preparing', 'I had prepared', 'I had been preparing', 'I have been preparing'. Just learn the ENDINGS PATTERNS, and snap them onto the STEM like in these examples.
This is part of the Excelerated Spanish Verbs Course which is under development, and due for release in early 2007. Yup, it's nearly 2007.
We are also developing our Spanish and French Turbobooster Courses that cover the 30-odd families of words that convert from English to Spanish (and French) in an instant, giving your language learning a superblast.... but...but...but
but... as always there is a 'catch'.... and that is why you need our course!
Because there are always exceptions to the rules, and the exceptions need also to be taught. Yes, we teach the rules, but for the exceptions you will get a Memory Trigger cartoon, Gender Trigger, native voices voicing it and the ability to test yourself.

--------------------------------------
3. SPANISH TIP: Why is the girl MUNCHING on her shirt?
--------------------------------------
Why is the girl MUNCHING on her stained shirt? Check out our picture of this silly cartoon, which will help you remember the word for 'stain' in Spanish. And you will also remember its gender. The girl MUNCHER will remind you of the word's gender.
Check out the cartoon to learn the Spanish for stain.
--------------------------------------
4. FRENCH TIP: Why is the Vampire being TOWED by a BAT?
--------------------------------------
Check out the cartoon of the Vampire sitting in his BOAT getting TOWED about by his BAT. He's a male vampire - Count Dracula - or should that be Count Dragula seeing as he is getting dragged about?? Forget that - he is under TOW. He is under BAT TOW in his BOAT. The French for boat is bateau, and the word is masculine, so we have a male main character - Dracula - in the picture to remind you of this.
Click for the pic. Remember the French for boat with this picture of a BAT towing a BOAT.
--------------------------------------
5. GERMAN TIP: Why are ducks smoking in the WET WEATHER?
--------------------------------------
Click on the link to the Memory Trigger pic to see this cartoon for remembering the word for WEATHER in German. Why are ducks smoking in the rain, in the WET WEATHER, and their cigarettes are getting WETTER and WETTER.
German Tip - the German for WEATHER. And there is a bunch of related words that you will find useful.
