You advised against Michel Thomas' accent in his French Program. The accent is a none issue as long as one understands what is being said. Even people who live within the same country and do speak the same language, depending on which region of that country they are from, will have an accent.
Case in point, I reside within the United States, and a person from the State of Texas will speak differently from someone from the State of New York. Michel Thomas' program is a great place to start if you want start speaking another language immediately.
The only complaint I do have about the program is that it does not offer enough languages. I have used the program for Spanish, French, Italian, Portuuese, and Mandarin for starters and the FSI language program offered by the U.S. Department of State.
The best thing about Michel Thomas' program is that the language being thought is broken down into parts which enables you to reassemble those parts to formulate your own ideas in your newly acquired language.
