Michel Thomas method is a great intro to learning a language and that is what it is meant to be.
I have the course as an iPhone app which is great value for money.
It is inspiring enough for the learner to want to read and take what they have learn further.
I agree that you do some memorising but what you learn is easily imbedded in your brain and I even fine myself thinking in the language, so it works very well, even addictive once you get started.
Does it really matter what accent, if I a foreigner speaks English?
I have little idea of where they're from and I think that will be the same for a French person is they hear a non-native.
Better to speak with a Polish accent than not even trying to speak French.
