Spanish Verb SITUAR: to situate

The Spanish verb situar means 'to situate ' and is an irregular Spanish AR verb.

To remember this, imagine where you SIT YOU ARE ... SITUATED!

Situar makes conjugation changes in the Present, Present Subjunctive and Imperative tenses by adding an accent to the u.
During the first part of November a new irregular UAR verb is featured each day to enable you to consolidate some of the AR verb families. You will learn other verbs with similar patterns such as actuar, continuar, evaluar, habituar, and others.

situar can also mean: to site, to position, to locate; to post, to station.
situarse (vr): to position/place oneself, to achieve a good position (in society).

la situación (nf): situation; position, standing.
salvar la situación: to salvage the situation / to save the day.

situado/a (pp/adj m/f): situated, located
estar bien situado: to be in a good position / to have a good standing (ie. in society).

vos replaces tú - you, informal, singular -
- in Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and also in some countries of Central America.
Sometimes it also replaces the formal singular 'Usted'.
In irregular AR verbs, the conjugations remain the same as for tú except for the addition of accents in the following tenses:
Presente: vos sitúas
Presente de Subjuntivo: vos sitúes (Central America)
