Spanish Verb TRAGAR: to swallow

The Spanish verb tragar means 'to swallow' and is an irregular Spanish AR verb.

To remember this, imagine you say, "Don't swallow the TRAY, Greta GARbo!

        USING the SPANISH VERB TRAGAR      

Spanish verb tragar - swallow tragar can also mean: to gulp, to choke back; to put up with (fam).
tragarse: to swallow, to choke back, to suppress.

Spanish to swallow is tragar el/la tragasables (nm/f/pl): sword swallower.
el tragón / la tragóna (n m/f): greedy person, glutton.

Spanish for swallow is tragar el trago (nm): drink, swig.
de un trago : in one gulp.
¿Vamos a tomar un trago? Shall we go for a drink?.
No lo trago: I can't stand him.
un mal trago: a bad/rough time (fam).

you informal vos replaces - you, informal, singular -
- in Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and also in some countries of Central America.
Sometimes it also replaces the formal singular 'Usted'.
In irregular AR verbs, the conjugations remain the same as for except for the addition of accents in the following tenses:
Presente:      vos tragás
Imperativo:  ¡tragá!
